New Book

I have been busy although I haven't posted for a while.Hence the long gap between 2011 and 2014. I have been ill for over a year which is part of my excuse. But, I am now back working again and have been for the last six months. I have mostly been illustrating books, a few card designs and more ornament designs. I shall put some of them up on my next blog. But I wanted to show that I have decided to self publish a book written and illustrated by me using blurb.com. It is a simple book with now many words but, I hope the illustrations make it what it is. Here is a link to it here.

Lily & Mo

Hi There,
 I haven't  posted for a while. Mainly due to being ill. But, I am working again and still doing book illustration among other things. It's good to be back painting. I love my work and miss it when I'm not drawing and painting. 
          
 This is Lily and Mo, my characters in colour. It has been a while since I have blogged and there are other colours of these characters on my website. I had ideas of writing a book for these characters with a green or recycling theme. I like the idea of some story with them growing vegetables in a garden or allotment and using the story to teach young children about growing your own food to eat. I thought it would be very current and might make a good series of books.
So,Ii'll have to put my thinking cap on for some stories!

New Characters

Hello again.. I've been busy last month, but amongst the card and ornament designs, I have created some new characters. They are based on people I know in personality, but not in looks, of course! I intend to use them for a childrens book but have not decided on a story line as yet. I have a few ideas up my sleeve though.

It's Christmas Time!

Well.. it's only few weeks since my last blog and I've rememberd to blog again. Can't be bad. So here is another painting from my sketch book. This will probably be used for a Christmas card. I know, it's nowhere near Christmas at the moment but when you work in the Greeting card market Christmas is on the mind for nine months of the year!

Hi There,

I'm not much good at these blogs, as you can see. I really must get to grips with it. I tend to get wrapped up in whatever project I'm doing and forget other things around me, hence the lack of blogging. But, I'm going to try and do it a bit more regularly now.

As well as illustration work, I also design greetings cards. Here is a sketch for a Christmas card not yet coloured up yet. I tend to have books full of sketches or on my desk or notice board but I don't get round to painting them up for months sometimes.

Anyway, I love to draw mice but I always wish I could get that initial spontaneaty in the final paintings that comes out in the initial drawings. Don't we all!

Falling Cat

Hi there,

This is my new blog spot where I will atempt to update you on what I am currently up to in the world of illustration. Here is one of my cat cartoons. I love to draw cats. I have studied them for years and the antics they get up to. It can be so funny to watch them!
